Hublot’s new watch is a fusion of ‘Magic Gold’, the iconic design of the Big Bang, and its Unico Manufacture Chrono.
Three years ago Hubot introduced the world to Magic Gold, the world’s hardest and only scratch-resistant gold, certified as 18K. Developed by the Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot, Magic Gold can only be machined using diamonds. The first watches made from Magic Gold were shown at BaselWorld2012 in a limited Big Bang Ferrari edition. Now, in the Big Bang Unico Magic Gold, Hublot picked the area most prone to scratches – the bezel – and crafted that from Magic Gold.
The Big Bang Unico Magic Gold is equipped with Unico, Hublot’s signature chronograph movement. This Flyback chronograph is unique in the industry and enables instant restarting of the chronograph. It features two push-buttons and a date indication. Its mechanism is distinguished with a horizontal double clutch and the famous “column wheel” that’s visible on the dial as the central 60-second counter and the small 60-minute counter at 3 o’clock. This allows greater reliability and flexibility in the chronograph’s Start Stop Reset functions, as well as improved visibility for the wearer.
Made from silicon, the pallet fork and escapement wheel of the the Big Bang Unico Magic Gold are set to a removable platform. Its movement has 330 components and it has a frequency of 4hz/28,800 vibrations per hour. The watch has a power reserve of nearly 72 hours.
