The two new editions from Vacheron Constantin that mark the Year of the Goat

All the goats out there and those who want to enjoy the spirit of the New Year should make a beeline for the limited edition Métiers d’Art The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac from Vacheron Constantin – the world’s oldest watch manufacturer in continuous operation since 1755. It is a part of a series of time pieces based on the 12-year cycle. The Geneva-based watchmaking House has presented two new watch creations – in pink gold and platinum – to mark the Year of the Goat, and it is issued in two 12-piece limited series.

Several traditional artistic skills have gone into making the dial. The leaf motif is directly etched on the metal and various accentuated reliefs create a depth effect making it stand out from its gold base. The dial is then treated with Grand Feu enamelling, a technique that was invented in Geneva and is today in the hands of a select few artisans.

Métiers d’Art The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac collection is able to create artistic displays thanks to the Calibre 2460 G4 inside. It provides a hands-free display of time with four windows revealing the hour, the minutes, the day and the date. It beats at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and the mechanical self-winding movement has a 22-carat gold oscillating weight adorned with a geometrical motif inspired by the shape of the Maltese Cross, the historical House emblem. The finishing of all parts meets the criteria laid down by the Hallmark of Geneva – one of the highest tokens of horological craftsmanship – and the watch is duly certified by the Hallmark of Geneva.

These limited edition watches are only available through Vacheron Constantin Boutiques.
