Running is the ‘it’ thing to do for a wave of health-conscious and fit Indians and while some just limit themselves to the occasional morning runs, many thousands make it to the marathons held across the country. For both types of runners, Nike has launched Zoom, a new series with four snappy models in striking shades of neon green.

Neon green happens to be the most visible colour to the human eye, and designers at Nike took it a step further and created a Nike-only version, Nike Phantom Glow, whose chemical structure even generates an energetic glowing effect! This special shade adorns the Nike ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT% while other models of the Zoom series feature a spectrum of neon green hues, to help the runner be noticed on the road even in poor light. Here’s a deeper look at all the Nike Zoom variants:

The first Nike Pegasus released in 1983 and is among the brand’s most popular running shoes. Its latest iteration is the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 36, which features some major changes like the added perforation on the engineered mesh that improves breathability across areas like the forefoot and arch that heat-up faster. Slimmer heel collar and tongue and exposed Flywire cables in the midfoot ensure an even more secure and comfortable fit. Like in its previous version, the sole is fitted with full-length Zoom Air unit, which is further encased by Cushlon form in its midsole, to create a responsive, cushioned and smooth shoe.

The Nike Zoom Vaporfly 4% is known to be four percent more efficient than the marquee’s previous fastest marathon shoe. The Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo 2 is its everyday trainer version and features a lighter and stylish translucent material and a lofted mesh. A midfoot band keeps the feet firm and secure even at high speeds.

Nike Zoom Fly 3

Nike’s fitted the Zoom Fly 3 with the soft and springy Nike React midsole while a carbon-fibre plate runs along the full-length to deliver a propulsive impact. The shoe is designed to reduce Achilles strain and its stack height provides impact protection, resulting in one of Nike’s fastest and most efficient shoes. The new arch-band lacing system offers a better fit. A great looking shoe, the Nike Zoom Fly 3 has a transparent lighter upper. Especially for the ladies, the shoe has a slightly softer sockliner with a higher arch.

The new Nike ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT% is a revamped version of the Nike Zoom Vaporfly 4%, also known to many as the fastest shoe on the planet and the choice of some of the most elite athletes. To this winning formula, Nike has added a new lighter material construction called Vaporweave, which is also more breathable and absorbs less fluid – be it sweat or rainwater – keeping your feet airy and dry.

There is 15% more of Nike ZoomX foam in the latest iteration yet the shoe’s weight is the same. Nike has also shaved off 3mm from the offset to provide better stability and energy conservation before toe-off. Like in the Zoom Fly 3, the Nike ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT% is also embedded with a full-legth curved carbon fibre plate. To help runners get a better grip in wet weather, the shoe has new contoured treads with deep grooves to facilitate smoother movement even on turns.

The Nike Zoom Series is now available across stores as well as online. Order your favourite from here.
