Travelling to London next year? Stay at the iconic Lanesborough hotel, which will reopen in Spring as a Masterpiece Hotel by Oetker Collection.
The Lanesborough hotel, a 5 star property said to be the most expensive in London, is due to reopen in Spring 2015 as a Masterpiece hotel. Situated near the Buckingham Palace, the hotel overlooks Hyde Park Corner. A legendary hotel, it is famous for providing a private butler to each guest. The Lanesborough has 93 rooms and suites as well as a spa and extensive dining options, including Heinz Beck’s Michelin-starred Apsleys. The 18-month long renovation is being done with due consideration of the building’s architectural heritage and will “embody the signature style that has become synonymous with The Lanesborough, whilst incorporating the latest in contemporary luxury and technological innovations.”
The Lanesborough hotel was first opened in 1991 by Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. Ten years later it came into Starwood’s St Regis hands. From November 2014, it is being managed by Oetker Collection. Frank Marrenbach, CEO Oetker Collection, said, “The Lanesborough is clearly a landmark within the European hospitality landscape with an exceptional heritage and a strong and unique identity, and it will fit perfectly in our Collection of Masterpiece Hotels. The partnership between Oetker Collection and The Lanesborough provides a great potential for us to bring our signature service to guests who have a passion for living.”
The Lanesborough hotel has seven individually designed private dining rooms. Guests will enjoy refined dining experiences at Apsleys from breakfast to dinner, including its legendary Lanesborough Afternoon Tea. Next to Apsleys are the Withdrawing Room and the Library bar, housing the “Liquid History”, a collection of vintage cognacs, some of which are over 200 years old. Towards the rear of the hotel, guests will find the Garden Room, the first and most luxurious cigar terrace in Knightsbridge and among the best cigar lounges in London.
Oetker Collection owns and manages eight hotels worldwide, in addition to The Lanesborough – Le Bristol Paris, Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, Chateau Saint-Martin & Spa, Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa, Eden Rock – St. Barths, Fregate Island Private, Palais Namaskar, and L’Apogee Courchevel. Villa Stephanie at Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa will open in January 2015.
