Ready for RED?

As World AIDS Day 2014 approaches, parties, apps, dares and more encourage the world to go RED and raise money for The Global Fund.

At the BELVEDERE (RED) party 50% of profits from the sale of every special edition (BELVEDERE) RED bottle will be donated to the Global Fund.

The World AIDS Day is observed annually on 1st December. Like every year several events are taking place around the world to raise funds for The Global Fund – the world’s leading financier of programmes to fight HIV/AIDS. Here are a few fun efforts you might like to join:

The HIV Shower Selfie Challenge

Nike Global Stores

Now that all of us are done with the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, it’s time to take a selfie in a shower and join the fight to end AIDS. Initiated by Reality TV stars and AIDS activist Jack Mackenroth, the HIV Shower Selfie Challenge aims to raise funds for Housing Works, a New York-based non-profit organisation working towards ending AIDS and homelessness by 2030.

Wondering how a shower is related with AIDS? Mackenroth was apparently inspired by the use of the word ‘clean’ used  to describe oneself as STI/STD free. Thus the HIV challenge is to post a picture of yourself in the shower with the hash tag #weareALLclean, and of course dare three pals to do the same.

If you’re in for this challenge then here’s where you’ll find all the instructions: bit.ly/CUREAIDS.

The BELVEDERE (RED) party

Then there’s the BELVEDERE (RED) party on 30th November, 2014 at AER Bar & lounge, Four Seasons Hotel, Mumbai. Being held on the eve of World AIDS Day, 50% of profits from the sale of every special edition (BELVEDERE)RED bottle will be donated to the Global Fund. M.MAT will warm up the rooftop party and will be followed by the internationally acclaimed artist and UK producer, Martin Ikin. The dress code is of course red.

Apple goes (RED)

Apple has announced that a portion of their sales from every product they sell on 1st December will be contributed to the fight against AIDS. Apple has also developed The (RED) App Store with special apps such as versions of games – Angry Birds, Clash of Clans, Farmville and FIFA 15. Kim Kardashian Hollywood is  also among these apps for which Kim has collaborated with Apple. The app allows people to take a (RED) branded selfie with her. The (RED) App Store will remain open till 7th December, 2014 and all the money will be donated to the Global Fund.
