AbiFloat by Christian Grande are floating villas designed to allow a person to live in harmony with nature, while staying connected with all necessary lifestyle and technological amenities.
Christian Grande DesignWorks is a name usually associated with power yachts, except this time his creation doesn’t allow you to take a journey over the seas, but perhaps into your soul. Named AbiFloat, these floating villas on water offer a matchless home to those who are looking for a relaxed life, submerged in nature. The floating villa can simultaneously be a remote office and a living unit, fully equipped with all the necessary technological amenities. It could also be a romantically ideal refuge for writers and artists, who can recharge their creative cells in the quiet and natural surroundings.
Thanks to the modular construction of AbiFloat, it is possible to create single one-room units to even actual villages articulated on several levels. All would be floating and designed to integrate into the surrounding landscape.
The technical details as shared by Christian Grande DesignWorks: “The key element of this project resides in the total standardization of structural elements, systems and finishings, with the sole exclusion of aesthetic variations or later functional personalisations. The project specifications are articulated by means of simple dependable systems: buoyancy reserves, sandwich technology for walls using recycled plastic and honeycombed baffles in straw, cork or particleboard, the latter to guarantee thermal insulation and light weight. Other exterior finishing materials are also contemplated, adaptable to different contexts and uses. For example: wide teak planks for exterior coverings with details in aluminum, roofing with either PV panels or corrugated sheet. Sizes and finishing are therefore available for any use imaginable: housing, recreation, guest accommodations or commercial uses. The load bearing structures are tested for up to two horizontal levels and composed of stringers and posts in aluminium, with the possibility to flexibly host electrics and climate controls by means of a system of standardized joinery. Flooring is also conceived to host electrical and plumbing systems, with hollow sections to guarantee thermal and acoustic insulation.”
The interiors as well as exteriors offer plenty of customisation options. The owner can enjoy configuring their ideal living space as well as select energy efficient furnishings and home automation systems. Non-intrusive exteriors of a custom made retreat looking over a bay can let the floating villa effortlessly blend in to the surrounding environment. Interiors can be minimal or hi-tech.
