Designer Rimi Nayak’s latest collection is spun around the theme of travel and Cartography, the art of making maps. Bold colours and geometric shapes combine to create a vibrant collection. Rimi’s first collection was unveiled at the 2008 Lakme Fashion Week, and ever since she’s presented rich, sensuous and beautiful designs at the show each year. Titled ‘Trail Tales,’ her latest collection too was showcased at the recently concluded Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai.
Trail Tales comprises long resort-wear dresses, draped jackets, summer tunics, trousers and tops along with flared gowns. The fluid garments are made from fabrics like georgette, crepe, handloom cotton and satin. The outfits are defined by their subtle design and graphic detailing. Various hand-crafted techniques like cutwork, thread-texturing and hand-embroidery have been used by Rimi in this collection. Blue and green are the predominant features of the collection, along with highlights of bright vibrant colours.
