The everyday training version of the world’s fastest shoe, the new Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo 2 is now even lighter and sleeker than before.

The Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo 2 is the latest everyday training iteration of the Nike Zoom Vaporfly 4%, the legendary shoe which allows runners to achieve up to 4% improvement in running economy when compared to Nike’s previous fastest racing shoes. The 4% system has fans such as Eliud Kipchoge, the fastest marathoner ever, and it was even proclaimed by many as the ‘fastest shoe on the planet’ when over half of all 2018 Marathon Major podium finishers had the Nike Zoom Vaporfly 4% on their feet! The shoe has a carbon-fibre plate that provides a propulsion sensation, that helps runners to quickly spring into a run and while that’s perfect in competitive running, the same elite marathon runners felt that the snap was a little too much for everyday runs. So, the Nike team designed the Zoom Pegasus Turbo with the same great features that make the 4% so efficient, leaving out only the carbon fibre plate to make it better suited for everyday use.

The Zoom Pegasus Turbo 2 has the same aerodynamic shape of the heel as well as the highly-responsive ZoomX foam in the midsole like the Nike Zoom Vaporfly 4%. The ZoomX foam delivers 85% energy return, which is more than any other Nike foams and it is also the lightest among all of them. What the foam achieves is minimal loss of energy every time the runner compresses it as he/she strides forward. The foam springs back to its original shape and the closer it returns to its original shape, the more energy transfers back into the foam.
The Zoom Pegasus Turbo 2 is the second iteration of the series and it has been updated with a translucent material and lofted mesh, making the shoe even lighter and sleeker than the last. The translucent material makes it more breathable as well.

The shoe aims to help the runner train faster and for longer periods of time. It has a partial inner sleeve from toe to midfoot and features a more traditional shape from midfoot to heel. The rubber outsole of the shoe helps absorb impact and provide multi-surface traction.
