Brangelina’s Rosé

The wine taking the world by storm is none other than the crisp pink Rosé by Hollywood’s power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are actors, filmmakers, humanitarians and also winemakers. In 2012, they purchased the 35-bedroom Chateau Miraval estate in the French region of Provence, which came with a 1200-acre vineyard and a price tag of $60 million. The couple then tied-up with the Perrin family, who are fifth-generation winemakers also located in Provence, to develop a unique rosé wine. The first batch of Miraval Rose Côtes de Provence 2012, aka Brangelina’s Rosé, was launched 2013, and the 6,000 bottles sold out in only 5 hours! The 2014 Miraval Rose is currently being retailed in UK at Marks and Spencers. In Hong Kong, limited stocks are now exclusively available at Marks & Spencer’s brand new Food store on Queen’s Road East.

Earlier more popular as the ‘Pink Floyd’, this pretty pale pink rosé is a blend of Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah and Rolle, matured 5% in oak barrels to add deeper complexity to the finished wine. The result is a summery bouquet of strawberry, white pear and floral aromas. On the palate it’s crisp and complex with flavours of summer berry, wild herb and tangy tangerine, balanced beautifully by a refreshing acidity. Apparently Brad Pitt really knows his wines and has been involved with the development of this wine.

Emma Dawson, drinks buyer at M&S, said, “We’re excited to be launching in Hong Kong what could well be the most famous rosé in the world! Not only does Miraval boast A-lister owners, it’s a really lovely crisp rosé. This rosé is best enjoyed lightly chilled, while young and fresh, and makes an excellent aperitif or matches with many Provençal style dishes such as fish, vegetables and salads.”

Interestingly, it’s not just the celebrities and the fans loving Brangelina’s Rosé but even experts across the world have given it brilliant reviews. It was on the Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of 2013 list and the Decanter Magazine described it as  ‘a sense of power alongside the elegance … with a delicious mouth-watering finish.’

Don’t simply believe the reviews though, go try one for yourself! It’s also available for shipping from their official Mirawal website.
