The Michelin Guide was first published in 1900 by tyre manufacturer Michelin to boost the demand for cars, and consequently tyres. While in the beginning the Guide featured useful information for motorists, like maps and lists of car mechanics, petrol stations and hotels, the restaurant section was added in the 1920s. Over the years the reviews of restaurants by the Michelin Guide have catapulted many chefs to global fame. Today, a Michelin-starred restaurant is guaranteed to serve extraordinary food. While JW Marriott Hotel in Juhu, Mumbai is already home to a restaurant by Spanish Chef Sergi Arola – who has achieved two Michelin stars – this month the Hotel is playing host to two more Michelin star chefs courtesy 4XFOUR Singapore, an expert in organising pop-up dining experiences with handpicked Michelin star chefs from across the globe.
