A powerful and successful businesswomen, Celia Sawyer is an interior designer, entrepreneur, TV personality, property developer and dealer. Celia became a household name in UK when she became one of the four dealers in the TV programme, ‘Four Rooms’, and then hosted for BBC One ‘Your Home in their Hands’. But she actually began with a small project 25 years ago, and then went on to design luxury residential homes, commercial properties, superyachts and even aeroplanes! Her latest is an apartment in Dubai, which she has furnished with Covet House and the brands under it – Boca Do Lobo, Delightfull, Brabbu, Koket, Maison Valentina, Circu, Luxxu, Essential Home, Rug’society, Pullcast And Foogo.

A definitive authority in interior design, a member of the Society of British and International Interior Design, winner of the Inspirational Woman of the Year 2013 Award, and among the Top 100 Most Influential British Entrepreneurs and Top 250 Most Powerful Women Leaders, Celia picked luxurious furniture pieces, upholstery, accessories and lighting from the bouquet of brands under Covet House for the new apartment.

The apartment in Dubai has been designed for a high-calibre VIP, and as per their demand features liberal use of black and golds. The client wanted a dramatic look in the main reception with a strong, masculine feel, softened ever so slightly in some areas. Celia balanced the dark walls and floors with several mirrors and statement lights.

“Lighting was very important and it really needed to ooze luxury and glamour, the chandeliers and wall lights were to be our ‘star’ pieces… works of art in themselves. I also mirrored the ceiling above the piano area so that the chandelier would reflect into it creating pools of light and drama,” explained Celia.

The grand Empire Chandelier by Luxxu lights-up the center of the living room. Inspired by the Empire State Building, the chandelier is a stunning addition to the home. Other statement pieces added by Celia include the Crackle Side Table from Luxxu, the Lapiaz Sideboard from Boca Do Lobo with golden fissures crackling through the polished steel, and the Darian Gold Mirror, which is also from Luxxu and is as much a functional mirror as it is a stunning piece of art.

The client wanted to see how Stephen Cawston’s work would look in his home and so the 24k-gold Shahin – the skeleton of an Arab man on an Arabian horse with a bird of prey on his arm – was lent for the project.
