Quintessential Ritu Kumar design is reinterpreted in Ritu Kumar Home to create a traditional line of table ware, home décor, bed linens and more.

Ritu Kumar is among our country’s most famous fashion designers and after conquering the world of Couture and Pret, the unstoppable 74-year-old has now entered the arena of home decor. Like her clothing lines, Ritu Kumar Home is also rooted in Indian textiles, motifs and architecture, offered with a contemporary twist in a range of bed linen, table ware, home décor and wallpapers.

Ritu Kumars’ brand of design is synonymous with rediscovery of Indian textiles and this time she pays homage to indigenous art forms from diverse regions across the country. The collection takes cues from textiles across various genres – from Kashmir’s school of Jamaavar shawls, to jaalis (lattice) of Lucknow’s havelis, vegetable-printed kalamkaris and furthermore even the Sanganer and Bagru School of Rajasthan. So, the resulting collection sees rustic, organic hues with vegetable dyed bases creating scintillating textures of cracked white, marigold yellows, dusty rose and more.

On the launch of her new Home collection, Ritu Kumar said, “Our heritage is closely linked to Indian textiles and it lends seamlessly to furnishings. Hence it was only natural to move into this direction to make beautiful Indian textiles, prints and motifs a part of one’s everyday life as well.”
“The Ritu Kumar brand has continuously sought to recognize the pulse of the consumer while never steering away from the core philosophy. From Couture to Pret and now Home, we aim to be distinctly identifiable as the world of Ritu Kumar,” added Amrish Kumar, Managing Director, Ritu Kumar.
The debut collection is now available at select Ritu Kumar stores and online on ritukumar.com.
